LGBTQiA+ group satisfied with government pushing for gender equality law

Super Poll reveals that the LGBTQiA+ group is satisfied with the government's importance, with 66.7 percent pushing for gender equality laws to help improve lives and raise Thailand to a clear gender equality level, hoping to increase the recognition of the right to choose the heir, while most still do not understand the Marriage Equality Act. Mr. Noppadol Kannika, founder of Super Poll Research Institute, presented the results of the survey on the voices of LGBTQiA+, a case study of LGBTQiA+ samples in all professions nationwide. The project carried out both quantitative research and qualitative research, with a total of 1,045 samples for statistical analysis. The project was carried out between 29-30 June 2024. Gender equality helps make life better than in the past. Interestingly, when asked about the opinions of the LGBTQiA+ group on the amendment of the Gender Equality Act on various issues, such as when asked how much the LGBTQiA+ group knows and understands about the Gender Equality Act, such as equ al marriage, the right to use titles, the right to inherit property, and the rights of beneficiaries of the LGBTQiA+ group, it was found that the majority, or 61.6 percent, still know and understand little to no, while 38.4 percent know and understand quite a lot. The majority, or 85.3 percent, quite a lot, want to increase the recognition of the right to choose beneficiaries and inheritance property for life partners as if they were spouses. The recommendations are: 1. Legal gender recognition by creating laws that clearly and humanely recognize legal gender. It does not require gender change surgery or invasive requirements. To enable transgender and non-binary people to change their gender status in legal documents. 2.Inheritance rights and spousal rights By expanding definitions and improving the law, ensure that LGBTQIA+ individuals and their partners receive the same rights as heterosexual couples, such as rights to inherit property, manage joint property, make healthcare decisions, and rights to chil d support 3.Anti-discrimination laws By strengthening and strictly enforcing anti-discrimination laws. To protect LGBTQIA+ individuals from discrimination in workplaces, schools, health care facilities, and other public services. 'By implementing these recommendations Thailand can truly promote equality and safety for the LGBTQIA+ community. It will also help Thailand be a role model in respecting human rights in the ASEAN region and around the world,' Mr. Noppadon said Source: Thai News Agency
